John M. Manavian, AIA

Executive Vice President of Real Estate, Design & Development

John Manavian oversees entitlement, design, development, construction, redevelopment and project management activities. He has completed over 5 million SF of new development since joining RPG.  His diverse business, architectural and master planning as well as construction background provides Robertson Properties with a unique blend of management expertise in all aspects of the real estate development process from acquisition due diligence through turnover.  In 2001 he also became responsible for the design and development / construction activities for Pacific Theatres and ArcLight Cinemas.  In December 2001, John was awarded the Business Leadership Award for Decurion Corporation (the parent company of Robertson Properties Group).

Prior to joining Robertson Properties Group, John was Vice President for ten years directing over $750 million of development and construction for The Festival Companies / Schurgin Development Corporation, a national real estate development company.  During the ten years prior to his involvement in real estate, John was a Partner and Director of Design for two architectural firms where he was responsible for the design of office, retail, commercial, medical, and multi-family residential projects. 

John has a B.S. in Architecture from USC and a Masters in Architecture from Rice University.  While in architectural practice, he returned to graduate school and received his M.B.A. from UCLA.  At UCLA, John was also awarded the Washington Campus Fellowship and attended Georgetown University during a summer long program that focused on the important interaction of business, government and public policy.

John is a licensed Architect in the State of California and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and the Urban Land Institute (ULI). He also served on his community’s Planning Commission (City of Palos Verdes Estates) for ten years, the last four years as its Chairman.
